Project leader for agroecology (m/f/d)

We are an independent, agriculturally orientated consulting company. We have been working for public and private clients in Germany and abroad since 1981. In the field of international development cooperation, we have specialised in the promotion of sustainable agriculture and food security. We plan, implement and evaluate projects in various countries in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America on behalf of public and private clients.  

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a project leader in agroecology in Tanzania (m/f/d) from June 2024.

Your profile:

Required minimum requirements/exclusion criteria:

• Completed university degree
• At least 7 years of professional experience
• Management experience in international projects
• Very good knowledge of German and English

Other (beneficial) qualifications/experience that will be considered positively as part of the assessment:

Professional knowledge and experience:

• Professional experience in the field of agroecology or organic farming
• Experience in the design and implementation of training courses, demonstrations and field trials
• Experience in agricultural consulting
• Experience in international technical cooperation
• Experience with institutional and/or policy advice, especially experience in working with Tanzanian ministries and political institutions of other countries
• Academic background in agricultural sciences, agricultural economics, agroecology, organic farming or similar disciplines
• Experience in the preparation of studies, concepts, advisory products in the agricultural and food sector and in cooperation with research institutions
• Several years (3 years or more) of project management experience at international level
• Profound knowledge of agroecology and organic farming in Germany/Europe and on an international level, especially East Africa

Regional expertise and language skills:

• Work experience in East Africa, preferably in Tanzania
• Good written and oral knowledge of Swahili

Methodological skills:

• Experience in operational consulting (methodological consulting skills) and curriculum development
• Experience in the training and further training (coaching) of specialists and managers
• Experience with participative training methods
• Gender competence
• Experience in monitoring project results
• Practical experience in working with many different stakeholders – Networking (cooperation with government agencies, academia, civil society and the private sector)
• Organizational and management skills
• Diplomatic skills
